• open-minded Dean doesn't have the same prejudices and preconceived notions that those raised in wizard culture do. He defends Professor Lupin even though he's a werewolf, saying that he's still the best DADA professor they've ever had. Even when his best friend doubts Harry when he says Voldemort had returned, Dean believes him.
  
  
• good natured Dean makes friends easily, and he's just generally easy to get along with. He may be closer to Seamus than he is to the other boys in his dorm, but he's still friendly with Harry, Ron, and Neville, and the rest of his fellow Gryffindors.
  
  
• brave When Dean received word through the DA coins that Harry had resurfaced and was leading the fight against Voldemort at Hogwarts, Dean wanted to rush to join him and fight, despite the fact that he didn't have a wand. He's obviously very brave, or else he wouldn't have been sorted into Gryffindor.
  
  
• loyal As stated above, Dean believes Harry's story even when Seamus doesn't. In third year, when Harry doesn't have a signed permission form for Hogsmeade, Dean offers to forge a signature for him so he can join them.
  
  
• muggle raised Dean is technically a half-blood, but he grew up in a muggle family, and never quite abandons his muggle heritage, bringing a poster of his favorite muggle football team to Hogwarts to hang in his dorm.
  
  
• rule breaker Dean is willing to circumvent the rules if it means helping his friends, or doing the right thing. See above example re: Harry's permission form for Hogsmeade. He also joined Dumbledore's Army in his fifth year even though he was at risk of getting caught, because he believed standing up to Umbridge's regime was the right thing to do, and he wanted to learn real Defense Against the Dark Arts. He also helps Fred and George test their Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes products before they leave the school.

characters from canon verse: In the months following the Battle of Hogwarts and the end of the war, Dean has been trying to return to normalcy. He took an internship with a wizard portraiture artist to study how to make paintings that move. His ultimate goal is to make a living as an artist.

He won't have been in 1980 long at the start of the game, and is still trying to figure out how to navigate the place.
